21 Lessons I've Learnt In 21 Years

So I'm officially an adult now? I refuse.

Every year I get older I go through things which teach me valuable life lessons. I wish that when I was younger I knew some of the things I do now and it's always good to reflect on what I've learnt. So these are 21 things I've learnt in 21 years.

1. Nobody knows what they're doing. Sometimes it can feel as if everyone has it together and you don't, but nine times out of ten everyone's feeling the same!
2. The only person you should compare yourself to is the person you were before. Never compare yourself to others because you should only focus on constantly bettering yourself.
3. Never stop learning. Learning different things will open up so many different possibilities for your life.
4. Don't feel bad about spending. We all need to treat ourselves every now and again.
5. The truth hurts sometimes. We will find out things we don't want to know sometimes and that can hurt. Take this as a lesson or a warning sign.
6. Trust your intuition. Your gut feeling is ALWAYS right. Listen to it!
7. Everyone has their personal battles. Everyone is going through personal things in their lives which have an impact on them. Always be kind.
8. Find a passion. Having a hobby or passion is essential for finding an escape for when you're stressed.
9. Don't be too hard on yourself. You're doing great, and you've come a long way!
10. Being nice costs nothing. No-one is above or bellow you. Always be nice to everyone.
11. Everything happens for a reason if you're an optimist. Always try and see the positive in everything.
12. Listen to your body. You should never ignore the signs your body are telling you. Look after your body.
13. One bad meal won't make you fat. Eat that pizza, cake and full English. In fact, order two!
14. Social media is bad for your mental health. Even though we know not everything we see on social media is a true reflection of peoples lives, it subconsciously leads us to believe we are behind.
15. Focus on you and your goals. Having goals no matter how big or small allow you to progress and feel a sense of achievement.
16. Lying gets you nowhere. There is no point in lying. Being truthful, no matter how hard it may be, will gain you more respect than being found out to be a liar.
17. Take time to travel the world. Travelling is one of the most rewarding things you can do. Experiencing different cultures and ways of life will allow you to adapt in life.
18. What you do with your life is your choice, not anyone else's. Don't ever let anyone make you feel bad for choices you do in your life. Live your life for you.
19. It's necessary to take time out to recharge. Taking care of yourself and your mental health is so important. Sometime's its needed to take a day off and relax.
20. Family is the most important. Family are going to be there for you no matter what. Don't take family for granted.
21. Work hard and it will happen. Nothing is impossible if you put the work in!

What are the most valuable life lessons you have learnt?

  9. The older I get, the more and more I feel like I need to keep reminding myself that people don't all just have it all together like it seems like. It's so hard though because it definitely feels like everyone but me has their shit sorted sometimes, haha
