How To Glow Up Mentally In 2020.

We're all guilty of getting stick in a rut sometimes. We get too set in our daily routines and ways of life that things begin to feel a bit tedious and we start to lack motivation, passion and drive for day-to-day things which used to bring us joy. We've all been there, it's only natural.

New Years is known as a time of change, but by the time February comes around, half of us have already given up on our resolutions and go back to being the person we were in December. Sound familiar?

I've made it a priority this year to really place an emphasis on my mental health and increase my productivity levels and there are some simple ways I'm doing this to help me glow up mentally which I thought I'd share with you all.

Check in with your fitness and diet.
It's no secret that what you put inside your body has an impact on how much energy and productivity you have. I've tried dieting, the gym and clean eating time and time again, and I have also failed time and time again too. Changing your habits overnight for the long-term can be hard for many (especially me), so a good way of challenging yourself is thinking of an event which is coming up in the next 3-4 months which you would want to feel/look better for. A holiday? A wedding? Valentines Day?...

For me this has been the thought of my holiday coming up at the end of February. It makes a long-term lifestyle change seem like a much more short-term realistic goal, and by the time my holiday comes around, hopefully my healthy habits will have stuck with me and I have seen physical and mental results.

Pinterest is an amazing platform to find new, exciting recipes and there are so many workout videos on YouTube for people of all fitness levels. Life can be hectic for all of us, so we need to make sure that we are always making time to take the best care of ourselves so we don't burn out.

Listen to Podcasts.
The podcasts app on my phone has become my new best friend recently. I never used to be a huge podcast listener at all as I didn't have much guidance on ones to listen to, but now they're increasing in popularity you can find podcasts on pretty much any topic! If you have a specific topic in mind that you want to learn more about, simply type it into the podcasts app on iPhone (I think Android has one too, but don't quote me on that..) and you will be shown a page full of the best rated podcasts related to that topic. I've swapped listening to music in the morning while doing my makeup for listening to podcasts as I've found that they really help me get into a positive, determined and driven mindset for the rest of the day.
If you would like me to do a post on my favourite podcasts, then let me know down below!

Find what motivates you.
If you didn't have to go to work or university or school everyday, what would you spend your time doing? What are the things that make you happy? What goals are you striving towards? It doesn't take a psychologist to work out that doing more of what makes you happy will increase your positivity levels, so make sure you are making time to focus on your hobbies and passions, whatever they are!

Keep a Journal.
You've probably heard people ranting and raving about the benefits of keeping a journal, and there's a reason for that! Journaling really is a free form of therapy (ish) which allows you to get all the thoughts and feelings in your mind down onto a piece of paper without judgement and allows you to start logically making sense of it all. It may seen unnatural at first, but stick with it because you will see improvements of having less worry, stress and anxiety on your mind as you have been able to physically translate your thoughts. Sometimes people prefer to throw the piece of paper away once they've finished and some people prefer to keep all of their journal entries to look back on. I'm extra and I find it fun to shred all my entries after I've finished journaling so I know they're truly gone and nobody can find them or piece them back together. Find whichever is best for you.

Can you think of any other tips to glow up mentally this year?
